Terry Ryan, CPDT*

Terry Ryan is the president of Legacy Canine Behavior & Training, Inc. Through Legacy, Terry writes books, presents national and international seminars and workshops, instructs pet dog classes, hosts interns and consults. View her upcoming speaking schedule here.
Terry has been a community dog training class instructor since 1968, specializing in pet dog classes using motivational exercises presented as games. She was the Coordinator of the People-Pet Partnership, College of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University from 1981 until 1994.

Bill Ryan, CPDT*

Bill Ryan has taught dog training classes since 1973. Several years ago Bill quit his "day job" at WSU and began working full time with Terry at Legacy Canine Behavior and Training, Inc. Bill helps conduct and coordinate many of Legacy's services and events. He is a regular instructor for the school, both for classes and private lessons. Bill has a broad background with a variety of breeds, and is particularly effective at rehabilitating fearful dogs. He has extensive experience on the use of head collars and anti-pulling harnesses as aids for people having difficulty in controlling their dogs on walks. Bill has been active in search and rescue and other dog-related activities, and is a student or a teacher at numerous local, state and national training workshops each year. Bill has trained his current dog, English Cocker Spaniel Brody, to do some amazing tricks. Terry, Bill and Brody live in Sequim, on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington.

Jenni Dix, CPDT*

Jenni Dix is Legacy's Program Coordinator and she is a Legacy Instructor. When you contact Legacy you'll most likely be communicating with Jenni. Jenni and her dog Gus, an American Cocker she rescued at the age of 5 months, successfully competed in agility for many years. Gus retired from agility in 2004 and now performs in a few local stage productions. Jenni's younger dog is an English Cocker spaniel named Cinder. Cinder competes in agility and she also has an unusual collection of trick behaviors including "Cha Cha" and tandem skateboarding. Jenni has a B.S. and is certified to teach English as a Second Language. She has developed lessons specifically for non-English speaking dog owners and instructors.

Elaine Diedrich, CPDT*

Elaine is a professional artist specializing in murals, sculpting and anything animal-related. She has been a crafts teacher and owned her own business in California. Her husband Bill, a construction contractor, owns ShelterCraft, Inc.
Elaine's dog training career started at age eleven, when she trained the family Bassett Hound to ride a skateboard, climb a ladder and pull a wagon! Elaine and Bill live with Cedar and Willow, both rescue dogs. Elaine, with her Bernese Mountain Dogs, participated in various dog events such as agility, freestyle, obedience competition, rally and conformation. Elaine and a friend started the first kennel club in our area, Kennel Club of the Olympic Peninsula which was the forerunner of the current Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club. Elaine has been a 4-H leader for the dog project and was 4-H still life barn superintendent at the Clallam County fair for several years.
Elaine is a board member of WAG (Welfare for Animals Guild), a foster home group helping to place homeless dogs in and around the in Olympic Peninsula. She is actively involved with the WAG adoption committee. She and Bill open their home to rescued dogs, training and socializing them to help them become more adoptable.
